It has been said that, "Prayer is not the preparation for the work - prayer is the work" and we wholeheartedly believe this at St Martin's.
We have a prayer meeting in the church office between our 9.30am and 11am services on Sunday mornings (starting at 10.30am and open to all) as well as a number of prayer groups in the church.
In recent years we have also set up some online initiatives using facebook. Everyone is welcome to any of these and all meetings - whether in the church, homes or online - provide an opportunity to support and encourage each other in prayer and to pray for those around us.
On Sundays, we also have a team of volunteers, authorised by our Vicar, who form our Prayer Ministry Team. Members can be identified by their name badges and are always happy to pray alongside individuals after the service. Any information shared is strictly confidential. The team also step in to pray for leaders at most services and are available at the monthly Healing Service.
For many years, St Martin's has had a prayer chain - everything shared remains confidential. If you have something that needs prayer and you would like the prayer chain to get praying for you, please contact the office and we will give you the number of the person in charge.
We also have a prayer group who meet weekly on Thursday mornings at 10am. During the meeting, the Group shares in a time of open and informal prayer, praying for our Town, our Churches, and anything else which may be personal or in the news. As with most of our meetings, this usually ends with fellowship around coffee and cake!
There is also a monthly prayer and worship meeting - the group meet on the first Monday of the month at 7.30pm and enjoy a time of tea, coffee, prayer and sung worship, praying for all manner of things as the Lord lays it on their hearts.
In addition to prayer groups, the fourth sunday of the month sees our Focus On Prayer evening services (6pm start) led by Ron and Chris Bennett. Each month, the focus of the talk differs and the congregation have extended opportunities to pray - either silently or aloud.
Online, we run an open Facebook Group called LiskeardPrayers which posts daily prayers for the church, community, nation and world. We also accept specific prayer requests - please private message the group administrator.
We also have virtual 'Prayer Triplets' which have been set up using Messenger - if you would like to join or form a triplet, please let us know and we'll put you in touch with the right person! If you would prefer a prayer triplet with whom you can meet face-to-face, we can help arrange this, too - again, just let us know if you'd like to find people to connect with.
If you would like to join any of these groups or set up one of your own, please get in touch!
