Every Sunday, the choir leads the sung worship during the 9.30am service.  The skill and encouragement of choir director Chris Howarth on our magnificent Lewis Organ makes this commitment enjoyable, stretching and satisfying as the choir enter into and enrich the worship of St Martin’s.  The repertoire of the choir is vast as they perform a rich variety of works from differing genres - including anthems, introits, sung prayers, psalms, responses and sung canticles - each Sunday.

In addition to the weekly services, the choir also enjoy showcasing their talents at special events and services.  These events frequently draw a good crowd, many of whom attend primarily for the music. This has been exemplified over the years by the very successful Flower Festival Concert in 2015 when our choir was joined by local singers, soloists and instrumentalists, a Good Friday Concert in 2016 with an augmented choir which included a moving rendition of Stainer’s Crucifixion, and a highly successful fundraising concert in 2017 for the reordering project.

The choir also provides the music for our annual Advent carol service which always well attended and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Choir Practice takes place on Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm and visitors and new members are always warmly welcomed.
