St Martin’s Liskeard
Are you new to the church or the area? If so, you are very welcome! We are a dynamic church made up of people from all walks of life. We love to see new people and are confident that you will feel right at home. Our Sundays consist of a variety of services – from our 9.15am reflective worship service, to the 11am praise & worship service (with youth and children’s work) – there is something for everyone!
Join Us
Regardless of which service you choose to attend, you are guaranteed a warm welcome and an invitation to join us in celebrating the good news about Jesus Christ. Our worship is vibrant and lively as we lift up His name together and we gather in expectation that God will meet with us and speak to us.
We are also very active in our local community working alongside other churches and organisations, and running our own projects in order to express the love of God in a practical way.

Our Mission & Vision
“Through the power of the spirit, to bring the love of Jesus to our community, to make disciples and to worship God together.”
Church Vision
We have a passion for seeing lives transformed through the power of the Gospel. The bible is at the heart of our faith; we believe that it is the inspired word of God. We see a church that reaches out into the community; where people are passionate about the word of God and want to tell others. The mission of the church is the mission of Christ.
St Martin’s is a Spirit-led, prayer-focused, Jesus-centred, worshipping community. Our missional priorities are:
-
Mission, evangelism & growth
- Discipleship & Good teaching
-
Families & young people
-
Community & looking after the poor

What we believe
We believe in living out our Christian faith as effectively as possible, making an impact with those who do not know the great news about Jesus Christ.
We believe we should share that good news of Jesus, equip people in their faith journey and see them live their faith out, in the world.
At the church we believe in…
- The one true God who lives eternally in three persons—the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
- The love, grace and sovereignty of God in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and judging the world.
- The divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God—fully trustworthy for faith and conduct.
- The dignity of all people, made male and female in God’s image to love, be holy and care for creation, yet corrupted by sin, which incurs divine wrath and judgement.
- The incarnation of God’s eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ—born of the virgin Mary; truly divine and truly human, yet without sin.
- The atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross: dying in our place, paying the price of sin and defeating evil, so reconciling us with God.
- The bodily resurrection of Christ, the first fruits of our resurrection, His ascension to the Father, and His reign and mediation as the only Saviour of the world.
- The justification of sinners solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ.
- The ministry of God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our witness.
- The Church, the body of Christ both local and universal, the priesthood of all believers—given life by the Spirit and endowed with the Spirit’s gifts to worship God and proclaim the gospel, promoting justice and love.
- That marriage is a life-long commitment between a man and a woman in faithfulness to each other
- The personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to fulfil the purposes of God, who will raise all people to judgement, bring eternal life to the redeemed and eternal condemnation to the lost, and establish a new heaven and new earth.

Transforming Mission
Transforming Mission is an exciting programme that is reaching out to the missing generations across Cornwall. Beginning in Falmouth, it’s now working across other diverse areas of Cornwall including Camborne, Truro, St Austell and Liskeard.
The vision is to create thriving church communities that welcomes and supports people whatever their stage of life, whatever their background and whatever their previous experience of church.
Transforming Mission is enabling church communities to spill out of their own walls to proclaim good news, serve their communities, resource and bless other churches and to be the catalyst for growth in discipleship, evangelism and community-building.
Relying heavily on prayer, patience and good listening, and despite the pandemic, we are seeing green shoots of renewal. Churches at the heart of our Cornish towns are becoming equipped, growing in faith and through creative and innovative strategies, are attracting those missing generations.
Sundays
New to Church?
All welcome
We’d love to welcome you to St Martin’s. You’ll find a friendly and welcoming bunch of people. Join us online, come to one of our Sunday services or visit one of our groups.
Where and when does the church meet?
Our Church meets every Sunday at 9.15am, 11am and 7pm, and for Wednesday Communion at 9.30am. We suggest that you aim to arrive 15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking spot and seat in time for the service to start.
We meet at:
St Martin’s Church
Church Street
Liskeard
Cornwall
PL14 3AQ
What should I expect when I visit the church?
You will receive a very warm welcome particularly from our Welcome Team who will be able to answer your questions and direct you to where you need to go. There will be a time of singing with opportunity for church members to pray or read a passage from the bible. There will also be a talk from one of the leaders at the church with a chance to respond to the Holy Spirit throughout the service.
If you require prayer after the service please make yourself known to the service leader or speaker and you will be directed to our prayer ministry team. Alternatively you can approach the team directly – they can be identified by their ‘Prayer Steward’ badges.
Tea, coffee and biscuits are served between the two services and are available as self-service during the 11am service, so make yourself at home!
What facilities do you have?
Both the Church building and the Church Centre have disabled access and in both buildings we have toilets, including disabled toilets and baby changing facilities.
What happens to the kids at church?
We have a fantastic programme for the kids at the church for:
Creche (0 to 3 years) – this is within the Church so that parents can stay and participate in the service
Smart Kids Sundays: Preschool
Smart Kids Sundays: School Years R to 3
Smart Kids Sundays: School Years 4+
The registration desk is open from 10.45am to register your child for Chrildren’s groups. Children stay with their parents at the start of the service as we worship (sing songs!) together for the first part of the morning. Someone will announce when the children need to go to their groups. You are welcome to go with your children the first time they attend and until they settle in.
Is there a dress code?
No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your ‘normal’ clothes.
Will I have to join in?
Not at all! You are free to observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.
