6pm Pentecost Praise with Churches Together Liskeard in St Martin’s Church

So what’s it all about? Quite simply, in the season of ascension, when we remember Jesus returning to his heavenly home and Pentecost, when we are reminded of the gift of the Holy Spirit, we are invited to pray for a move of the Spirit in our local communities, friendships and families. As we simply pray thy Kingdom come, and with a focus on praying for five people who don’t know Jesus. I also have a challenge for you: to invite one of those five people

You are going to invest in prayer to our praise and a prayer evening on Sunday, 24th May at 6 pm. Who knows, these 10 days could be the moment that a friend or family member comes to know Jesus.

Alongside this, we are offering two amazing courses.

  1. Alpha on Tuesday, 1 pm-3 pm at St Martins introducing the Christian faith, and we shall be running an evening course in September!
  2. Bible course is running in more groups over the next few months, but also each Wednesday led by Mark at 7.30-9 pm, come and join it is only starting on 7th May, and you can send the other weeks you have missed online!

These are great opportunities to move from prayer to invitation.

Over these last few weeks, I have been reminded by that challenge and invitation, and I have followed Lectio daily reflections that have sat in that moment of Jesus appearing to the disciples after Easter. What I have heard and what we see is his quiet appearances to his disciples and others, and their encounters and their response to go and tell people. One of my favourite encounters of Jesus is from John 4 with Jesus and a woman at the well. I love the end of the encounter and her life being changed, and how she went and shared this good news.

Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.””

John 4:39 NIV

So, as we move into this season of prayer and sharing the good news. Who are you going to be praying for? Who might you invite to one of our gatherings?

That simple invitation could be like the woman at the well, and see her life changed.

I look forward to sharing with you over these coming weeks as we pray that simple prayer.

Thy Kingdom come, Amen

God bless

Mark
