Dear Friends

I write this just after our nation experienced one of the hottest Mays we have ever had – but don’t worry, the rain has returned!

May was very exciting as we joined together in prayer for Thy Kingdom Come, and what a great Pentecost we had. How are the five people you committed to pray for? To quote Archbishop Sarah: “don’t stop praying for them – keep praying!”

June continues to be a month for us to focus on prayer as it’s all about festivals and praying for encounters with Jesus!

Hannah and a group of volunteers (including me!) will take more than 12 young people to Spree – a youth Christian festival where there is teaching, games, fun and even some World Cup football this year. That same weekend Liam will be taking 5 of the soar lads to Men’s gathering in Swindon, a men’s conference. Please pray for both these festivals and for those going that they experience the love and move of Jesus!

On Sunday we had our second Sunday of the year looking at ministry’s we have committed to give and pray for. Niall  shared about creation fest. Do listen back on our Youtube Page! Also do be praying for how you might be able to support in three important ways:

  • Pray
  • Volunteer
  • Give a place to someone to go to festival.
  • Also come and camp with us still time to book!

Alongside all these exciting things happening, there is a real sense of God moving. Following from our sermon series, praying for a move of the spirit, on the 14th June we are offering baptisms at 11am, so do let Mark know if you are interested in being baptised or reaffirming your baptism vows in the pool.

Then Wednesday 24th June at 7pm we shall be joined by Bishop David, Bishop of Truro, who will be doing a confirmation service. This is a great opportunity for those to commit themselves to Jesus in a beautiful Church of England tradition, so do speak to me if you might interested in making this step of faith!

Recently I preached at Dobwalls about the invitation for Matthew to follow Jesus, from Matthew:9:9 where it says:

As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.

I love this simple invitation and response to follow, yet this would have come from prayer, and this is shown brilliantly from the Netflix series of the Chosen.

They show how he kept looking but thought he would not be welcomed but Jesus was all about welcome and fast forward to Liskeard 2026 and that same invitation is no different. That is my prayer for us all in this June and even more so in festival, baptism and confirmation month, that not only can we hear that invitation to come and follow, but also respond to those early disciples who went and shared this invitation.

Who is Matthew in your life? Or maybe today is the day you want to respond to that invitation. If you do let us know as we would love to share a little bit more about what and why we love our decision to follow Jesus.

Let us join together in this exciting festival season and pray for a move of the spirit and a move of people saying yes to following Jesus!

God Bless

Rev Mark
