Dear Friends,
How was September for you? It has felt like a very high-paced September, and what a joy to join as a community for the opening of the Hall. I am so thankful for everyone who has made it possible.
I was very struck by Ian and Mick, who were sanding and varnishing, and Ian was also spotted clearing the weeds outside on the Friday afternoon. This is a great deal of detail and decoration, and thankful hearts. They gave their time, and there are so many others who have given immeasurably more than we could imagine!
It was great to thank so many of you on the Saturday and now looking forward to all that we will use the building for in the coming weeks, months and years. THANK YOU.
In this season throughout the benefice, we have been celebrating harvest through September and Dobwalls this Sunday (4th Oct), then later in the month we welcome a number of our schools in to celebrate harvest.
In the office and ministry team, we are about to start putting things together for Advent, a season that is busy and all about getting ready, but before that starts we need to again look at the detail. The more I meet with Bronwen about hall and church bookings over December, the more it is all about the detail.
What does detail mean to you? I don’t know about you, but I am a person of big ideas and need to surround myself with people of detail. I am so thankful for our church family that we have so many people who offer so many different skills. As I have been reflecting on this, I was drawn to Paul’s writing to the Church in Corinth.
Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.
Corinthians 12:12
Each one of you is important, and for each one of you we give thanks. In this season of details, we give thanks for those who are working and serving in the details.
So, an October challenge for you: what is God asking of you?
